Timberline Salon + Barber is located in 1900's north Ballard forest. Ballard was once a fishing village lined with views of farmland and timber facing north, much like Scandinavia. Fishermans's Terminal on Seattle's Salmon Bay has served as a the home port for the Puget Sound-based fishing and mixed cargo fleet since 1914. Today, the Ship Canal is very active private + commercial fishing, pleasure boating +tourism destination today.
Ballard's rich history of Cedar Shingle factories gave the nickname “Shingletown” , often referred to as - the “Shingle Capital of America.” One of Ballard’s ten shingle mills along the canal, produced more red cedar shingles than in any other community nationwide in 1905.
Today, Ballard is a very hip trendy area of Seattle.
